Sorry to bother you but I'm really  hoping you can help point me in the right direction. My husband has just taken a job in Burlington - a long way from England - and we are moving out to join him at Easter. Our sons are 6 and 16months and my husband is struggling to find a suitable village with great schools for the children. It's making me very nervous about the move now. The village we live in at present is small but with everything you need and is quite cosmopolitan with a real community spirit. Do you know of anywhere that might fit this "ideal" within an hour from Burlington? Many thanks in advance

I live in "The Orchard" in Burlington.  (Just off Appleby line)  It is a compact community with a catholic school, two public schools, a woldorf school and a montessori daycare.

There is discussion now about a high school being built.

It is a community of families.  There are always lots of kids in the neighbourhood to play with.  It is central to many arenas if you children will be in sports.

It is close to a variety of shopping/Dentists/Veterinarian/restaurants etc as well.  It has quick access to the 407 and QEW which are important for travel. We love it there!

Thanks EHM this is a great help and not too late!!! I've just returned from a week in Burlington. We spent all the time looking round areas together and there are lots of lovely places - the orchard was one of them. It's really good though to get some feedback from folk that actually live there. Feeling very jet lagged but much happier about the move now. By the way all the people that I came across were so polite and friendly- a refreshing change from here!! AND it's all so clean..... Can't wait to move.
