I don't know if it makes a big enough difference between boys and girls, but I'll share my success story with you.
I asked my little one to pick out something special she'd like as a reward for "going", from a Toys R
Catalogue. I then bought a bright piece of Bristol Board, and I cut out the picture of the Toy and taped it to the
Bristol Board. Then I made a calendar of the month using the same bristol board, and purchased some of those
Stars so that she could stick a star on herself after each successful number 1 or number 2...under the current day.
I should mention that at the very end of the month was a picture that she had chosen as her reward glued on the
last day so she knew she would be receiving this item for being a big girl...
And by using the stars everyday, she became excited and practically ran down to the kitchen to place another
star on her chart...And it helped to keep up the excitement and the goal daily.
I can't tell you how successful this was and I know it's a little bit of bribery, but it worked and it continued to work
even after she received her reward gift, which was a fisher price kitchen set. She loved playing with that for several
years and going number one or two was a positive experience. Now she's 18 and my only complaint is she's a bit
too messy in her bedroom, but that's not something I loose sleep over...
Good luck with your little boy & I hope this helps.
